DMZ-1 is an easy to install system that can continuously measure in real time meteorological and hydrological conditions that seriously affect safe passage and then transmit them through Automatic Identification System (AIS) channels. Parameters like wind speed and direction, current measurements, wave characteristics, and other variables are all packaged in an internationally standardized AIS message 8, 12 and/or 14 to approaching vessels and authorities nearby
